Two hours north of Sydney you will find one of the finest wine regions in the entire world, Hunter Valley. Its rolling hills, along with the heaviest rain fall coming between January and April make it prime for producing some of the best Semillons and Chardonnays you'll ever taste. And a great place to start your tour through the Hunter region is at the world renown vineyards of Tempus Two.
Visit the TempusTwo.com to learn more about their wines and visiting the Cellar Door!
Founded in 1998 by 4th generation vintner Lisa McGuigan, Tempus Two is truly a unique place. Actually, from the moment you pass it on the road there is no mistaking the Vineyard. Its cellar door is sharp and elegant looking, making visitors want to pay a visit, and do they ever! It was the busiest vineyard we visited by far and for good reason.
(Below: Tempus Two has a unique Cellar Door. It's surround by stunning views and places to eat)
My tasting favorites:
#1 - 2010 Wilde Chardonnay (liked it because of it's dry finish) - Cellar door price $30
#2 - 2011 Gewurztraminer (had an excellent floral aroma to it) - Cellar door price $25
#3 - 2011 Hunter Valley Shiraz (best enjoyed with some nice cheese and crackers) - CDP $15
The other aspect of Tempus Two which makes it such a fantastic place to visit is that it's much more than just a winery. On either side of the cellar door you will find a wonderful cheese shop and 2 fantastic restaurants to eat at. Which brings me to my last point which is eating dinner at Tempus Two shouldn't be missed. Grab a table in the evening and look out over the vineyards while you dine and of course have a Semillon . . . or two . . . or three.
(Below: Inside the Cellar Door you'll find an expert staff to guide your tastings. It's always busy which also makes it a lot of fun to visit!)
Hello. And Bye.
